Min Pins 101

Toy group

The Miniature Pinscher, or MinPin, is a fearless little dog, utterly devoted to family but possibly too small for young children. They are endlessly playful, unfailingly alert and extremely vocal. Their small size and their confidence makes them a good fit for city life; nothing fazes them. While the black-and-tan version may look like a Doberman Pinscher, they have nothing in common with the larger breed.

The Miniature Pinscher has one unique feature among all the dog breeds: A "hackney" gait, in which the front legs are raised high in movement, as in fancy carriage horses.
